Wave Oscillator Confluence Pro — Full Guide
The 5 confluence factors, diamond signals, squeeze detection, and CVD divergence.
Overview
Wave Oscillator Confluence Pro is a multi-factor momentum oscillator that combines 5 independent market measurements into a single scored signal. Instead of a single RSI or MACD line, it synthesizes RSI state, volatility squeeze, VWAP deviation, cumulative volume delta, and trend strength into diamond signals — Strong or Moderate — that indicate high-probability momentum entries.
Settings Reference
| Setting | What It Controls | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| RSI Length | Lookback period for RSI State Machine | 14 | Standard RSI period. Shorter = more reactive. |
| Keltner Channel Period | Period for Keltner Channel in squeeze detection | 20 | Used with Bollinger Bands for TTM Squeeze logic |
| Bollinger Band Period | Period for Bollinger Bands in squeeze detection | 20 | Standard BB period |
| VWAP Period | Lookback for VWAP deviation calculation | Session | Session VWAP is standard. Adjust for multi-day context. |
| CVD Sensitivity | Sensitivity of the cumulative volume delta proxy | Medium | Higher = more responsive to volume changes |
| Strong Signal Threshold | Minimum confluence score for a Strong diamond | 4 | 4 of 5 factors must align for Strong (vs. Moderate at 3) |
The 5 Confluence Factors
Factor 1 — RSI State Machine
Rather than a raw RSI value, this tracks the RSI's position within a state machine: bullish zone (above 50 + rising), bearish zone (below 50 + falling), or transitional. The state contributes to the confluence score based on alignment with the signal direction.
Factor 2 — TTM Squeeze
The TTM Squeeze fires when Bollinger Bands contract inside Keltner Channels — a sign of compressed volatility that often precedes large directional moves. The squeeze state (active, releasing, or no squeeze) contributes to the confluence score. A squeeze-release condition with an aligned diamond is the highest-conviction setup.
Factor 3 — VWAP Deviation
Measures how far price has deviated from VWAP. Extreme deviation above VWAP + bearish diamond = mean reversion sell opportunity. Extreme deviation below VWAP + bullish diamond = mean reversion buy opportunity. Adds directional context to the momentum signal.
Factor 4 — CVD Proxy
Estimates cumulative volume delta (net buying vs. selling pressure) from lower-timeframe candle data. When CVD direction aligns with the signal direction, it adds volume confirmation. CVD divergence (price moving one way, CVD moving another) is a warning flag — not a signal, but a reason to wait.
Factor 5 — Trend Filter
A multi-period trend strength filter that checks whether the broader trend supports the signal direction. A strong bullish diamond in a well-established uptrend has higher expected value than the same signal in a choppy or countertrend environment.
Signal Types
| Signal | Confluence Score | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Strong Buy Diamond (⬥) | 4–5 factors bullish | High-conviction buy signal. All or nearly all factors aligned. |
| Moderate Buy Diamond (◇) | 3 factors bullish | Moderate-conviction buy. Valid but requires additional confirmation. |
| Strong Sell Diamond (⬥) | 4–5 factors bearish | High-conviction sell signal. |
| Moderate Sell Diamond (◇) | 3 factors bearish | Moderate-conviction sell. |
Visual Elements
- Diamond Signals: Plotted on the oscillator panel. Filled diamonds = Strong (4–5 factors). Hollow diamonds = Moderate (3 factors).
- Background Intensity Shading: The panel background darkens or brightens based on the overall momentum state — a quick visual cue for trend strength.
- Squeeze Dots: Small dots on the zero line indicating squeeze state. Colored dots = squeeze active. Grey/off = no squeeze.
- CVD Histogram: The histogram bars show the CVD proxy direction and magnitude on each bar.
Recommended Timeframes
Wave Oscillator works across all timeframes but is most powerful on:
- Swing trading: 4H and Daily for setup timing and confirmation
- Day trading: 5-min and 15-min for intraday entry timing
Tips & Best Practices
- Strong diamonds in squeeze-release conditions are the highest-conviction signals. Compressed volatility releasing into a Strong diamond with aligned trend = maximum confluence setup.
- Use VWAP deviation as mean-reversion context. Extreme extension + diamond in the opposite direction is a potential mean reversion play. The further the deviation, the stronger the snap-back potential.
- CVD divergence is a warning, not a signal. If CVD is moving against the price trend, treat it as a flag to reduce size or wait for confirmation, not as a standalone reason to trade.
Common Mistakes
- Trading every Moderate diamond without additional confirmation. Moderate diamonds (3 factors) are valid signals but are best treated as "attention required" rather than "execute immediately." Pair with structural confluence from MTF Zones or Institutional Edge before acting.
- Ignoring squeeze state. A diamond during deep compression means wait for the squeeze to release before entry. Entering during active squeeze compression can result in a prolonged chop period before the move develops.
