Indicator-Specific Troubleshooting
Common issues with each indicator and how to resolve them.
Macro Compass
Macro Compass isn't showing COT data / gates aren't firing
- Check your timeframe: COT data is only available on Weekly and higher timeframes. If you are on a daily or lower chart, COT-dependent gates will not fire. Switch to the weekly timeframe.
- Symbol compatibility: COT data is available for futures contracts and many major ETFs (SPY, QQQ, GLD, etc.) but not for individual stocks. Apply Macro Compass to SPY, ES1!, QQQ, or major futures symbols.
- Data delay: COT data is published weekly with a few days delay. At the very start of a new week, data may not yet be updated. This typically resolves within 24 hours of the weekly release.
Formation Scanner
Formation Scanner is slow or takes a long time to load
This is expected behavior. The scanner performs real-time multi-symbol analysis — it is scanning 20 symbols simultaneously with bar-by-bar pattern recognition and scoring. Normal load time is 5–15 seconds. If it is taking significantly longer:
- Check your internet connection and TradingView server status
- Try a different browser or disable browser extensions that might throttle scripts
- Reduce the chart's visible bar range if TradingView is loading large amounts of historical data
Scanner shows results I didn't expect / results are different from yesterday
Formation Scanner results are based on the current bar's classification and score. Results update with each new bar. A setup that was rated ⭐⭐⭐ yesterday may be ⭐⭐ today if the new bar changed the pattern classification. This is correct behavior — the scanner reflects current market conditions, not historical snapshots.
Institutional Edge Algo
Institutional Edge is showing too many or too few signals
- Too many signals: Raise the Min Edge Score setting. Increasing from 60 to 70 or 75 significantly reduces signal count to only the highest-confluence setups.
- Too few signals: Lower the Min Edge Score, or check whether the Cooldown Period is set very high — a long cooldown suppresses repeat signals at the same level.
- No signals at all: Verify you are on a supported timeframe (1-min to 30-min for futures, 5-min to 1H for equities). Very high timeframes may produce infrequent signals by design.
Delta Flow Pro
Delta Flow shows flat or near-zero delta on a stock
Delta Flow Pro calculates volume delta from lower-timeframe candle data. This calculation requires adequate tick volume in the lower timeframe. Low-volume stocks — particularly those with fewer than 500,000 daily shares traded — may produce meaningless delta readings. Delta Flow is optimized for:
- High-volume futures: NQ, ES, YM, CL, GC
- High-volume equities: AAPL, NVDA, MSFT, SPY, QQQ, and similar large-caps
Wave Oscillator Confluence Pro
Signals seem too frequent / too infrequent
- Too frequent: Lower the Strong Signal Threshold setting (e.g., keep it at 4 or raise to 5 to require more factors). Alternatively, only trade Strong diamonds and ignore Moderate.
- Too infrequent: Lower the Strong Signal Threshold to 3 for Moderate signals, or check that all 5 factor modules are enabled in settings.
HMA Concavity Pro
HMA Concavity line is too sensitive / generates too many flip signals
- Too sensitive: Increase the HMA Length. A longer period smooths the line and reduces the frequency of concavity flips. Try 55 for swing trading on daily charts, 34 for 15-min charts.
- Not sensitive enough: Decrease the HMA Length. Try 21 for 5-min charts, 14 for 1-min. You can also increase the Concavity Sensitivity setting if available.
